Description
The Himalayan Kingdom’s beauty is epitomized in its culture, flora, fauna and architecture, amongst others. Druk Path Trek, one of the most popular and easier treks, has a blend of all these ingredients as you trek from Paro to Thimphu. You will be trekking along a path that offers you great views of the highlands and landscape. The highlights of the trek are the beautiful lakes and Phajoding monastery.
This package will also take you to the Himalayan Kingdom’s most revered sites, such as Paro Taktshang (Tiger’s Lair), the current and the ancient capitals of Bhutan, Thimphu and Punakha respectively, the World’s largest Buddha statue amongst others. On the other side, you can interact with the people and get to know Bhutanese life style.
Itinerary
Your journey begins with one of the world’s most scenic mountain flights, offering breathtaking views of towering Himalayan peaks. After completing customs formalities, enjoy a warm Bhutanese lunch before starting your sightseeing in Paro. Highlights include the Ta Dzong Museum, home to ancient relics, art, and handicrafts, and the impressive Rinpung Dzong, once a fortress and now a monastery and administrative center. Overnight stay in Paro.
Today is dedicated to exploring the capital city. Visit the National Memorial Chorten, Changangkha Lhakhang (a 12th-century temple), the Zilukha Nunnery, and Tashichhodzong. If your trip coincides with the weekend, wander through the bustling Thimphu Market. Overnight in Thimphu.
After breakfast, drive to Punakha, Bhutan’s former capital. Discover the iconic Punakha Dzong, built in 1637, and enjoy its stunning riverside setting. Later, take a short hike to Chimi Lhakhang, the fertility temple of Drukpa Kuenley. Overnight in Punakha.

Your trek begins along the riverside trail through subtropical forests filled with orchids and abundant greenery. Expect a gentle uphill walk before reaching Damji village (2,400m). Camp overnight.
(15 km, 6–7 hours)
Continue through forests and village paths to the famous Gasa hot springs, renowned for their healing properties. After lunch, hike uphill to Gasa Dzong (2,900m), where your campsite awaits.
(13 km, 6–7 hours)
This morning begins with a visit to Gasa Dzong, followed by a steep climb to Bele-La Pass (3,700m). Descend into the lush forest until you reach your campsite at Chamsa (3,650m).
(22 km, 8–9 hours)
Trek downhill to the Mo Chu River, cross a suspension bridge, and enjoy lunch by the riverbank. Continue with a gradual ascent to Laya (3,800m), a unique highland village. Overnight in camp.
Spend the day exploring Laya village and experiencing Bhutanese hospitality. Visit a local home where tea and barley brew (“chang”) are generously offered.

Descend towards the army camp and follow the river trail before turning toward Rhodophu. The climb passes through rhododendron forests into a hanging valley (4,350m), where yaks graze. Camp by the river.
(25 km, 10–11 hours)
An early start leads to Tsimo-La Pass (4,700m), offering spectacular views of Lunana, Mount Chomolhari, and Jichu Drake. Cross Ganglakarchung-La Pass (5,080m), then descend into the Tarina valley (3,980m). Overnight camp.
(17 km, 6–7 hours)
The trail descends through conifer forests along the Pho Chu, then climbs gently over a ridge before reaching Wochey village (3,800m). Camp overnight.

Walk through forests and rhododendron valleys to Keche-La Pass (4,480m). Descend along mountain streams until reaching Lhedi village (3,650m). Overnight camp.
(17 km, 7–8 hours)
Follow the river to Choejong village, the largest in Lunana. After visiting the temple and crossing a suspension bridge, continue to Thanza (4,000m) for the night.
Enjoy a free day to relax. For adventurous trekkers, climb a nearby ridge for incredible views of the Himalayan peaks.

Begin with a ridge climb offering vistas of Table Mountain and Thanza valley. Continue through alpine valleys before reaching Tshorim campsite (5,125m).
(16 km, 6–7 hours)
Climb to Tshorim Lake and continue to Gophu-La Pass (5,230m). The panorama includes Gangkar Puensum, Bhutan’s highest peak. Descend along the ridge to the base camp (4,970m).
Relax and soak in the majestic views of Gangkar Puensum. Optional short hikes are available.

Descend along the Sha Chu River to Geshe Woma (4,200m). Overnight camp.
(18 km, 8–9 hours)
Follow the Sha Chu River, climbing gradually to Saka-La Pass (4,800m). Cross alpine landscapes dotted with small lakes before reaching your campsite at 4,000m.
(14 km, 5 hours)
A short climb takes you over Juli-La Pass (4,400m), descending into forests of rhododendron and juniper. Continue to Dhur Tshachu hot springs, where Guru Padmasambhava is said to have bathed.
(16 km, 8–9 hours)
Climb steadily with sweeping views of Lunana’s mountains. Along the way, you’ll encounter yak pastures, blue alpine lakes, and herder camps (3,850m). Overnight camp.
(21 km, 13 hours)
Today marks the trek’s finale. Descend along the Chamkhar Chu River until you reach Dhur village. Vehicles will transfer you to Jakar in Bumthang. (This stage is best done over two days if preferred). Overnight in Bumthang.
Explore Bumthang, Bhutan’s cultural and spiritual heart. Visit Kurje Lhakhang, Jambay Lhakhang, Jakar Dzong, and Tamshing Monastery, known for its ancient murals. Overnight stay in Bumthang.
Drive three hours to Trongsa, the ancestral seat of Bhutan’s monarchy. Visit Trongsa Dzong, the country’s largest fortress, and Ta Dzong watchtower museum. Overnight in Trongsa.
Return to Paro, stopping en route for scenic views. In the evening, enjoy a stroll through Paro town. Overnight in Paro.
Take an unforgettable hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), perched dramatically on a cliff 900m above the valley floor. Explore Paro’s cultural gems in the afternoon. Overnight in Paro.
After breakfast, transfer to Paro Airport for your onward flight. Tashi Delek!
