Description
The Jomolhari Trek is one of Bhutan’s most iconic and sought-after trekking experiences, offering a harmonious blend of natural beauty, cultural immersion, and spiritual significance. This trek takes you to the base of Mt. Jomolhari, also known as the “Mountain Goddess,” at the breathtaking campsite of Jangothang. Standing at an elevation of 7,300 meters, Mt. Jomolhari is revered as the abode of one of the Five Tsheringma Sisters, the divine protector goddesses (Jomo) of Tibet and Bhutan. These deities, bound by sacred oath to Guru Padmasambhava, are believed to safeguard Bhutan’s land, its Buddhist faith, and its people.
Embarking on the Jomolhari Trek is more than just an adventure; it’s a spiritual journey through Bhutan’s majestic landscapes. As one of the best treks in Bhutan, it caters to nature enthusiasts, adventure seekers, and cultural travellers alike. The trek typically takes 7 to 9 days, depending on the route, and offers various challenges suitable for both seasoned trekkers and determined beginners.
